Account Access & Passwords
Last updated October 25, 2026.
This page explains how logins to your hosting account work, what we keep and don't keep, and what to do if you lose a password.
1. Your Hosting Account Details
When we set up your hosting account, we send you your account details one time, by email. They include:
- your control panel (cPanel) username and password
- the address you use to log in to your control panel
- your account's name servers and plan
The details come straight from our server's setup screen, so they can look technical. The lines that matter most are your username, your password, and the login address.
Please save this email. Keep the username and password somewhere safe, such as a password manager. It's the only copy you'll receive.
2. We Can Reset Your Password, Not Retrieve It
We don't keep your control panel password on file, and we can't look it up for you. Your hosting server stores passwords in a scrambled form that can't be turned back into the original—not by us, and not by anyone else.
If you lose your password, we'll set a new one for you. Password resets are free. The same applies to email mailboxes on our servers: we can set a new mailbox password, but we can't tell you what the old one was.
3. Who Can Request a Reset
To protect your account, we only reset passwords for the people listed on your account as your administrative contact or as authorized to make decisions about your website and domain. We'll confirm the request before making any change, and we send the new password to your administrative contact's email address on file.
If the people who should have access to your account change, please let us know at support at osmondtech dot com.
4. How We Access Your Account
As your host, we can reach your hosting account through our own server tools to do maintenance, backups, and repairs. We never need your password to do our work, and we don't use it.
For Managed Services clients, we keep our own administrator login to your WordPress site so we can install updates and fix problems. It's separate from yours. We don't keep, and don't need, your personal WordPress password.
5. We Will Never Ask for Your Password
We will never ask for your password by email, text, or phone. If someone claiming to be from Osmond Technologies asks for it, it isn't us. Don't share it, and please let us know at 608-446-1311.
6. Keeping Your Account Safe
You're responsible for keeping your passwords private and for anything done by anyone you share them with, as described in our Terms of Service. We recommend:
- a strong, unique password that you don't use anywhere else
- a password manager to store it
- telling us right away if you think someone else has your password, so we can reset it
7. If You Leave
When you end service with us, we remove our own administrator login from your WordPress site. The rest of the offboarding process is described in our Managed Services Agreement and Standard Hosting Agreement.
