Google Search Monitoring
Last updated November 2, 2026.
Most people find a business by searching Google. If your website quietly drops out of Google, or Google can't read it properly, you usually don't find out until the phone stops ringing. We watch for that so you don't have to.
1. What We Do
For every website we host, we:
- verify your website with Google Search Console, Google's own tool for website owners
- submit your sitemap, the list of pages that tells Google what's on your site
- check every day for problems: your home page dropping out of Google, sitemap errors, or a sudden fall in how often your site shows up in search results
2. Managed Services Clients
Google Search monitoring is part of Managed Services. When something needs attention, we let you know, explain it in plain English, and fix what's ours to fix as part of your plan. On request, we'll also go over how your site is doing in Google: how often it shows up, what people searched for to find you, and which pages they visited.
3. Standard Hosting Clients
Your website is monitored too. If we spot a serious problem, such as your site disappearing from Google, we'll let you know. Fixing it, or any other search help, is billed at our hourly rate under the Standard Hosting Agreement, or included if you move to Managed Services.
4. The Verification File
To verify your website, we place a small file named something like google1234abcd.html on your hosting account. Google checks for it from time to time, so please leave it in place. It doesn't change how your website looks or works, and it gives no one access to your site or your hosting account.
5. Who Can See Your Data
Search Console reports are private. Only verified owners of your website can see them, which means you (if you've set up your own access) and Osmond Technologies, LLC. We use this information only to look after your website and never sell or share it. See our Privacy Policy.
6. If You Already Use Search Console
Nothing changes for you. A website can have more than one owner in Search Console, so your existing access stays exactly as it is, and we're added alongside you.
7. If You Leave
When you move your website elsewhere, we remove our access and the verification file. If you'd like your own Search Console access set up before you go, just ask and we'll add you as an owner.
8. What We Don't Promise
We can't control Google's search results, and nobody honestly can. Search monitoring tells us when something is wrong so it can be fixed quickly. It is not a guarantee of rankings, traffic, or placement, and it isn't a search engine optimization (SEO) or advertising service. If you want help improving how your website ranks, ask us about a consulting project.
